Family Raises €129,000

The fundraising accomplishments of the Sweetman Family from Dublin were celebrated at a ceremony in the MS Care Centre in Rathgar. The two year fundraising campaign was led by Noel Sweetman and his sister Bernie Woodcock who has MS.

Noel and Bernie’s family and friends raised a staggering €129,000 through; a trek to Kilimanjaro; a Gall Ball in Carnegie Court Hotel, Swords; a mid summer barbecue; and by taking a crew of 25 people to run in the New York Marathon.

Noel Sweetman (Lusk) says:

“We did not expect MS to come to our family’s door but when it did we felt the best way to deal with it was to do something positive.  Our aim was to raise money but it was also about creating awareness, getting people involved and building sense of community around living with MS and Supporting MS Ireland”

Bernie Woodcock says of their fundraising activities:

“We couldn’t believe the response to our fundraising.  We were and continue to be bowled over by the support of our communities.  It has really shown us how people are and how willing they are to support positive action”

Anne Winslow Chief Executive of MS Ireland says;

“This fundraising drive was an incredible achievement by the family and friends of the Sweetman’s. It represents the single largest donation to MS Ireland in the last two years and shows the power of a group of motivated and committed individuals. All money raised from the events will go towards supporting the work of MS Ireland in providing much needed services and resources to people with MS as well as their families and carers.”
