Petition For Neurological Care

MS Ireland and NAI call for a National programme for Neurological Care

Petition

Ireland is at the bottom of the league in Europe for many aspects of neurological care. We have the lowest ratio of neurologists and consultants in neurorehabilitation per head of population, we continue to lack many neurospecialist services and there are long waiting lists for those services that are available.

Critically, there is no overall plan within our health system to invest in and develop neurological care, despite the fact that over 700,000 people in this country (17% of the population) are living with neurological conditions such as migraine, stroke, dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, acquired brain injury and Parkinson’s disease.

The Neurological Alliance of Ireland and its members groups (such as MS Ireland) are calling for a national programme for neurological care which will require the HSE to publish and implement its own recommendations for investing in and improving services for people with neurological conditions.

Help support the campaign by signing the petition. Log onto www.nai.ie

The campaign is being launched to coincide with the publication of NAI's seminal publication 'The Future for Neurological Conditions In Ireland: A Challenge for Healthcare; An Opportunity for Change'. A number of leading clinicians, academics and specialists have contributed to the publication, which explores the challenges facing neurological care and the solutions that need to be put in place. Download a free copy from NAI’s website.
