MS Ireland provides information on trials and studies some people with MS may find useful. This information should not be interpreted as advice or recommendation for participation in any given study. Any person taking part in research does so at their own discretion. Anyone who is considering taking part in a clinical trial should consult their neurologist.

Title of study: An Exploratory Randomised Controlled Trial of a Manualised, Nurse-led, Telephone Intervention Support Service for People who Support People with MS.
Trinity College Dublin is looking for people who support people with multiple sclerosis (MS) to review a handbook and answer a questionnaire based on the content. The study aims to determine if a change in the way in which neurology nurse specialists provide support to people who support people with MS results in better care outcomes for the person diagnosed with MS and their support person.

Title of Study: Cognitive Functioning in Multiple Sclerosis: A Longitudinal ERP Analysis
St Vincent's University Hospital, led by Professor Tubridy, Consultant Neurologist are asking you to participate in a research study. Your participation is entirely voluntary. You are being asked to participate in this study because you are a healthy volunteer (a ‘control’). The aim of the study is to examine brain activity and see how people with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) complete a range of mental tasks, when compared to healthy control volunteers.

Title of Study Epidemiology, Vitamin D and Quality of Life
St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin with some assistance from MS Ireland, is conducting a new study into epidemiology, led by Consultant Neurologists Dr Niall Tubridy and Dr Michael Hutchinson, Endocrinologist Dr Michael McKenna and Research Registrar Dr Roisin Lonergan.
People with MS are being asked to help a new research project into the disease in Ireland. The study into the epidemiology of MS in Ireland is looking at the incidence and prevalence of MS nationally, as well as differences in various aspects of the disease.

Dublin's Brain Bank
The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Beaumont Hospital have launched a new Brain Bank in Dublin that aims to assist research in MS and other neurological conditions. The Dublin Brain Bank will allow researchers to access brain matter that can be used in their studies. Read more in our news section.
People with or without disorders of the brain are being asked to consider donating their brain once they pass away. Information, brochures and consent forms are available from www.rcsi.ie/brainbank
