  • Research Fund

MS Ireland operates a dedicated research fund to promote research into various aspects of MS. The fund is administered by our Research Committee who cover a wide range of disciplines and experiences.

Research Programme 2009: Call For Submissions Is Now Closed...

Multiple Sclerosis Ireland encourages and promotes MS research as it is the most beneficial way to improve understanding of the disease, leading to better treatments, interventions, management and ultimately a cure for MS. Research is one of our five strategic goals, based on feedback from people affected by MS.

MS Ireland’s 2009 Research Programme is now closed. The programme awards funding to time specific research projects that will help to better understand MS and/or develop effective treatments and interventions.

MS Ireland will consider any application relevant to MS. However, applications within the following themes are particularly encouraged.

    • Basic and Clinical Science - Mechanisms of nerve damage, repair and protection
    • Quality of Life
    • Service Delivery

Applications can be made using the official Research Fund 2009 Application Form.  Applicants are asked to read the ‘MSI Research Programme Application Guidelines’ before completing the application form.

It is MS Ireland’s intention to submit suitable applications to the HRB/MRCG Joint Funding Scheme and to work with the UK MS Society of Northern Ireland.

Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 27th March 2009.
