Why Support MS Ireland?
Over 7,000 people live with Multiple Sclerosis. It not only affects the person with MS but it also affects their parents, spouse/partners, children and other family members. MS not only affects the functioning of the body it also affects other elements of life such as work, socialising, finance or starting a family.
The money used from all our fundraising activities is used to help people with MS and their families to address some of the issues and concerns brought about this progressive, neurological condition. Just over half of our running costs are covered by the government so the money raised through fundraising is so important to maintain and develop services and resources.
Your money can help us to:
* Provide one-to-one support to a person newly diagnosed with MS, helping them and their family to come to terms with the changes MS may bring into their lives
* Provide a variety of living with MS programmes, workshops and activities that address the various elements of MS in a group setting
* Provide immediate and confidential support through our MS helpline
* Provide respite care for someone with MS
* Provide opportunities for kids and teenagers to come together, relax and share experiences of living with a parent with MS
* Provide booklets, fact sheets and other informational material
* Fund research into various medical and social elements of MS, helping to improve treatments and intervention and some day leading to a cure.
MS Ireland has a long tradition of volunteering and many of our services are run and supported by volunteers. Our voluntary Branch network is run exclusively by volunteers for local people and families living with MS and they are also on the look out for new volunteers. Our National Office is also recruiting volunteers to help with some administration work so check out our current volunteering opportunities.
MS Ireland greatly appreciates all monies and time donated.
