Participants needed for 'Step it Up' Exercise Programme

Do you have Multiple Sclerosis? Are you living near Galway, Limerick or Cork?

If so, you may be suitable to take part in a new free 10-week physiotherapy-led exercise and education intervention

MS researchers at the University of Limerick, in collaboration with colleagues in the US, MS Ireland and the Health Research Board have developed a new exercise programme that aims to improve strength and walking ability among people with MS.

Who can participate?

People with a diagnosis of MS, who are able to walk independently without a mobility aid, are over 18 years, and are currently not physically active, are invited to take part.

What do I have to do?

The study will involve an initial physiotherapy assessment followed by a 10-week group exercise and education programme (in a community setting in Galway, Limerick or Cork), wherein participants will be asked to attend six 1.5 hour exercise sessions and 3 follow-up assessments after programme completion. This study starts in September 2014.
