MS Ireland's statement on stem cell therapy

MS Ireland welcomes developments in stem cell treatment as a potential therapy offering hope for people living with MS. We agree with our colleagues in organisations such as the UK MS Society, that further research in this area is necessary

MS Ireland's position paper is available here

MS Ireland is the national organisation supporting more than 9,000 people with MS and their families in Ireland, providing vital services, information and advocacy. Our work on Access to Medicines is hugely important in advance of new medicines or treatments for MS, ensuring that people with MS in Ireland access the medicines they need to treat their condition and impact debilitating symptoms including impaired mobility, severe fatigue and cognitive difficulties.

Not your best article. Didn't seem to be well researched. Have you not spoken to Dr. Su Metcalfe or Dr. Denise Fitzgerald (up in Queens in Belfast)? They could both tell you a lot about how they're getting on with repairing MS damage.

Hi Eoghan,

We have detailed pieces on the work of Dr Fitzgerald in the last two issues of our research eZine - you can read them here: http://www.ms-society.ie/pages/research/ms-research-ezine

We will be doing more in-depth pieces on stem cell research in future issues.

What the situation now with stem cell therapy in Ireland. From the BBC coverage lately it seems to be internationally recognised.
