Caroline Morahan...

..joins Team MS Ireland!

You may remember we said last week that we had some very exciting news to share with everyone and we're finally ready to reveal...

Actress, television presenter and the face of Littlewoods Ireland Caroline Morahan was revealed as our 2014 Flora Women's Mini Marathon ambassador!

To say we're excited about this is an understatement! We caught up with Caroline this week and she is as lovely as you'd think. She is a fanatastic role model for Irish women and we are thrilled to have her on Team MS Ireland.

Caroline says, “Multiple Sclerosis is a condition that affects far more women than men; over two-thirds of the 8,000 people with MS in Ireland are women. This is why I’m lending my support to MS Ireland and I really want to ask women all over the country to grab their friends and join Team MS Ireland to show their support for Irish women living with MS today!

Also featured in the photocall was Naomi and her mum, Mary, who are great supporters of MS Ireland. Naomi and her younger sister Rachel were diagnosed with MS just one year apart. Read their inspiring story below.

After I was diagnosed in May 2011 (just 12 weeks before my wedding), I was shocked and frightened but I had Rachel for inspiration, she has shown everyone that a positive mind-set can help overcome the biggest obstacles,” Naomi says.

The two sisters say being diagnosed so close together meant that their family had to deal with a lot of emotions and pressure to stay positive and be there for both siblings. They say, “No one has been there more than our Mum - she comes to neurology appointments, waits on us hand and foot when we’re not feeling great and still manages to keep everything as normal as possible for everyone else in the family.

Their mum Mary shared, “To say it was a major shock to every cell of my being to have not one, but two, daughters diagnosed with MS is putting it mildly. My two girls have taught me that having a positive attitude to life, laughing a lot & spending time with those we love is what makes the world go around. Having a loved one diagnosed with MS is not the end of the world; it’s the beginning of a new chapter and I am trying my best to help my girls be the authors of their own chapters.”
