Loreto Foxrock Girls Listen Up for the MS READaTHON

We were delighted to take part in Readers and Writers Week at Loreto College Foxrock on Thursday. We were in good company, Amy Huberman was there too! This very kind invitation came from the same school whose Transition Year students volunteered to help out at our national Convention in September. We were thrilled to present each of these incredible students with a certificate for their volunteering efforts.

A very eager group of first year girls gave us a very warm reception before we launched into the talk. First we wanted to tell the students a little bit about MS, its causes and how it affects people all across Ireland. After some fun games that showed (in a unique way!) how MS affects the central nervous system, we talked to the class about the how their MS READaTHON donations help us provide services for people with MS. Lucky for us we didn’t need to start from the beginning since most of them are already signed up and are busy reading book after book to raise money for MS Ireland!

We told everyone that there are a few things they can do to make the MS READaTHON more fun for them as well as for us here in HQ. An action as simple as giving us a ‘Like’ on our new Facebook page means that you’ll be connected with us and keep informed on all of MS Ireland’s activities all over the country. Sign up to our new newsletter to get the most up-to-date happenings from MS READaTHON HQ in your inbox every week… there’s also fantastic competitions so it’s a win all round! Send us a photo with your favourite books; we’d love to see what you’re reading.

We always love getting your book reviews so we thought we’d show our appreciation this year by entering all submitted reviews into a draw. Top prize is that your review will be published in the My Kids Time Books for Kids Newsletter and a load of great books! If you have a minute, read Abigail's Story and see what is like to have a Mum with MS. Let us know your thoughts.

Very big thanks to all at Loreto College Foxrock for having us; to the lovely group of first year girls who listened enthusiastically and learned about MS and the MS READaTHON and finally to the unstoppable Iníon Nig Fhlionn for making us feel so welcome (and for giving us a sneaky croissant!)!
