Joe McCaul diagnosed with MS

Former Eurovision star only 25

Joe McCaul announced yesterday that he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis just before Christmas. At just 25 years old he is part of a growing number of young people being diagnosed with MS in Ireland in recent years.

The singer is understandably still coming to terms with the news but is already showing signs of his strength, “I can either lie down under it or get up and go. When people say to me, but you’ve got MS, I say, MS hasn’t got me."

Our former Advocay and Policy Officer and longtime MS Ireland ambassador Emma Rogan runs a Meet-Up group for people with MS which has been extremely popular with young people.

We would urge anyone in this early stage of their diagnosis to contact their local MS Ireland Regional Office where a professional community worker is there to help you through. Our MS Information Line is also open to everyone in need of support or advice every Monday to Friday from 10am-2pm on 1850 233 233.
