Top-notch Libraries Get Two MS READaTHON Thumbs Up

Walking into a library is like walking into another dimension. This particular dimension is one where anything is possible. In this world you can be anyone you want to be or go anywhere you want to go. Your Nintendo, your iPhone and your TV have little use here; in this world, a good book and your imagination is the only thing you need.

The wonderful thing about books is that you are transported into a world that is different and often a million miles from your own. Your imagination allows you to accompany Alice as she passes through the looking glass; get lost in Hogwarts with Harry; see that the big giant is actually quite friendly. All of these adventures are made possible just by reading and if there’s a better place to whet your literary appetite than your local library, we haven’t heard of it!

There is no life I know,
              To compare with pure imagination.
              Living there, you'll be free,
If you truly wish to be.

              - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl

That’s what we like most about our libraries. They have so many books for you to read that sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. When you become a member of your local library you are opening yourself up to a new world of adventure and exciting journeys. Every year librarians up and down the country register with us to promote the MS READaTHON in their branch. Libraries play a huge part in the MS READaTHON every year and we are delighted that they continually take part. Each year we can say for certain that a high number of entries come in to us because of children seeing the displays in libraries so we want to say THANK YOU for that!

This week we want to give some shout-outs of gratitude to our library friends for all of their work in encouraging youngsters all over Ireland. And it’s not just because of the MS READaTHON; every day of the year libraries try to engage with young people and get them involved in reading by holding events all throughout the year. At the moment countless librarians have organised countless events in countless libraries to celebrate the Children’s Book Festival so look out for some in your area. We want to show our appreciation for all of the hard work you all do so this week is for you libraries and librarians… THANK YOU!

PS – A librarian is a fountain of knowledge… they can help you find any book you need, just ask! Find your local library here.
