We braved the elements on Saturday morning to undertake the Wicklow to Enniskerry section of the Wicklow Way; a 21km walk.that turned into a 30km walk as the crew blithely continued past the finish line to start the next part of the Wicklow Way, headed for Glendalough!
Through uniquely-Irish weather which included bursts of misty drizzle, scorching sunshine and what has been reported as hailstones or possibly 'actual snow', two brief lunch stops and an unverified number of fortifying swigs from a hip flask, the group managed the walk in a little over 8 hours, rewarding themselves with a well-earned bowl of soup at the Powerscourt Arms upon completion.
We are sincerely grateful to those who have generously donated over the last weeks and months. The moral support and well wishes were also hugely appreciated and the group said that they really spurred them on, particularly during the last two hours of the trek.
The chosen charities are The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and The Irish Cancer Society.
