L is for love by Chloe

Chloe reflects on self-love, support, and finding strength through connection after her MS diagnosis.

After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I decided to take life in my stride - with a lot of self-love.

At first, it was overwhelming. I had to come to terms with my new reality - MS. I learned to respect my own limits and found strength in being open about my struggles and taking care of myself.

It wasn't always easy, but I discovered that this gave me a positive mindset and made me stronger.

Gradually, I started to notice beauty in simple things - the golden sunlight through my window, the comfort of a warm cup of tea, and laughter blooming even on the hardest days. Small victories, like stepping outside or sharing a smile, felt worth celebrating. Honest conversations brought comfort and unexpected kindnesses - a friendly note, a letter, or words of encouragement - reminding me that support often arrives just when we need it most.

Volunteering

Volunteering as a youth advocate with Jigsaw Ireland gave me purpose and fulfilment, allowing me to support young people's mental health. My journey centres on self-love, empathy, authenticity, and resilience. By supporting others and allowing myself to be supported in return, I discovered a sense of belonging that I never expected, and it gave me the courage to keep growing. It shows that hope and impact are possible, even during hard times.

It's a story of embracing challenges, staying true to myself, and making a positive impact on the world. Through this experience, I've learned the importance of self-compassion and the power of community. I've come to understand that even in the face of adversity, there is always a way to find hope and make a meaningful change.
