Paul is a health professional, martial artist, and passionate advocate for wellbeing. He has a long-standing interest in supporting people living with MS – including his wife, whom he met in 2009.
After 14 years of working with people affected by MS, Paul was diagnosed himself in 2020. He began applying the same mental and physical strategies he had used with others to his own life.
The results were remarkable. Paul put away his walking stick, qualified for the Irish National Team in two martial arts disciplines, and went on to represent Ireland at top-level international competitions.
Today, Paul runs an award-winning private health clinic, teaches regular martial arts classes, and hosts a 5-star rated podcast. He is also a published author on topics ranging from acupuncture to Zen philosophy, and has lectured at institutions such as Dublin City University and University College Dublin.
Paul has even delivered martial arts demonstrations for the Japanese Ambassador, former Taoisigh, and Ministers for Health.
He strongly believes that empowerment begins with education, and he’s on a mission to change the often-negative narrative around MS. His goal is to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence in people living with MS – helping them to lead full, exciting, and empowered lives.
The Living with MS podcast series aims to give a voice to the Irish MS community, as guests share their personal experiences with multiple sclerosis — from diagnosis to where they are today.
MS is often called a “snowflake illness” because no two people experience it the same way. Everyone has different symptoms, different reactions to their diagnosis, and different paths forward. Through monthly episodes, this series highlights those individual stories to help deepen understanding of MS and the many ways it impacts lives.
