MS and Menopause Webinar

MS Ireland are delighted to host a webinar on the topic of 'MS and Menopause'. 

The webinar aims to cover topics including: perimenopause, menopause, the benefits or otherwise of HRT and any known impact menopause has on MS symptoms. 

Speaking on the topic is Dr Kate Petheram, Consultant Neurologist at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

MS and Menopause Webinar - Guest Speaker Dr Kate Petheram

Dr Kate Petheram

Dr Kate Petheram is a consultant Neurologist with a special interest in multiple sclerosis. She is MS lead at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust and works with a small but dedicated MS team within the district general hospital there. The team provide a full range of DMTs within the trust and participate in MDT meetings in neighbouring Newcastle. 

Kate studied Medicine in Bristol and stayed in the southwest to do her medical training in Bristol and Exeter before moving to London for junior doctor roles in the Neurology departments at St Georges and then The Royal Free. She made the move to the Northeast to undertake Neurology specialist training before taking up her consultant post in Sunderland in 2014. 

Kate is local principal investigator for a number of MS observational studies. She is a medical advisor for the MS Society and is on the faculty of the MS Academy. She is member of the Quality Committee of the Association of British Neurology. Kate is currently also Training Programme Director for Neurology in the North East.
