World MS Day, marked globally each year on 30 May, shines a light on the realities of living with multiple sclerosis and highlights the importance of awareness, understanding and community support.
This year, MS Ireland’s campaign, MS Journeys: Many Faces, One Community, reflects the many different experiences of living with MS while celebrating the connection and resilience shared by the MS community across Ireland.
The South East event will offer practical advice, expert information and an opportunity for people living with MS, along with family members and supporters, to come together in an informative and welcoming setting.
The event featuring a range of speakers focused on supporting people to live well with MS.
Among the speakers will be Mary McDonald from MABS, who will speak about supporting your financial health, including entitlements, benefits and managing changes in finances.
Hugh McLoughlin, Physiotherapist with MS Ireland, will discuss supporting your physical health, including the benefits of exercise and physiotherapy, MS Ireland’s online physio classes and seated exercises.
Dr Jasna David, Neurologist, and Liz Daly, MS Nurse, University Hospital Waterford, will also speak about supporting you with your MS, covering symptom awareness, tracking symptoms and getting the most from MS appointments.
Registration will take place from 10.15am to 10.45am on the 22nd May and the cost is €10 per person, which includes lunch, with lunch served at 1.15pm.
