National Carers Week 2015

The 9th Annual National Carers Week will take place from June 8th to 14th this year. Events will take place nationwide to celebrate and recognise the role of Ireland’s Family Carers.

There are 9 National Organisations who are partners in the week and will be organising events around the country to acknowledge the valuable work and contribution that Family Carers make not only to their individual families but Irish society itself. Partners this year are; The Carers Association of Ireland, Caring for Carers Ireland, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Irish Cancer Society, The Disability Federation of Ireland, Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, MS Ireland, The Irish Hospice Foundation and Care Alliance Ireland.

We have a vast amount of events this year that vary from a Mamma Mia Sing-along night in Cork, an online Thunderclap for Young carers in Donegal to a butter making class in Kilkenny! Other activities that are popular events for this year’s National Carers Week are pamper days, mindfulness classes and information days with numerous guest speakers.

There truly is something for everyone in this year’s timetable of events. So make sure and check out all the details on events being organised in your local area - see the website www.carersweek.ie or our Facebook page. You can also contact Zoe, the coordinator of the week by emailing admin@carersweek.ie or on 086 8834942.
