My Neuro My Needs Key Findings on MS in Ireland

The latest findings from the Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI) Patient Experience Survey have shed light on the experiences of people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) across Ireland. This survey provides valuable insight into the real-world impact of MS on health, daily life, and access to services.

Key Findings:

  • Fatigue emerged as the most significant symptom, with 67% of respondents saying it affects them “quite a lot” or “very much.”
  • Memory and thinking difficulties were reported by 64% of participants, with 40% saying it impacted them “quite a lot” or “very much.”
  • Over half (52%) of respondents said their condition significantly impacts their ability to be physically active, and 47% said it affects their ability to work or study.
  • 30% of respondents said they cannot afford the additional costs associated with managing their condition.

The findings reinforce the importance of continuing to advocate for improved access to multidisciplinary care and targeted supports for people living with MS.

We would like to thank all participants who contributed to this important survey. Your experiences are helping to shape the future of neurological care in Ireland.
