Tony Candon does not have Multiple Sclerosis, but he has lived with MS for most of his life – first, with his mother who had MS since at least the early 1960s, but in whom it was not formally diagnosed until the 1970s, and now with his wife of nearly thirty years. Tony has one step-daughter and a granddaughter. He lives in Castlebar.

An archaeologist by profession, Tony’s early career was as a field archaeologist.  His later career was in the world of heritage and museums on both sides of the Irish border. From 2007 to 2019, Tony ran the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, the only branch of the National Museum outside Dublin.
