Assistive technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. These items can be acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customised. They include wheelchairs, lifts, bathroom equipment, communication aids and more.
